Campus group leaders are notified about prospective members through the Message Center portlet. Once notified, campus group leaders use the Campus Group Manager portlet to accept new members and manage other properties of campus groups.
When campus group leaders click on their campus groups, the Manage This Group hyperlink appears in the sidebar of the portal:

The Campus Group Manager portlet contains the following functional areas:

The drop-down menu contains two items:
The Edit Outgoing Messages screen contains several text areas in which you specify the e-mail messages that are sent from the Campus Group Manager Portlet.
Each text/HTML message can be formatted using a standard text formatting toolbar:

Specify the following messages that are sent from the Campus Group Manager portlet:
Group Membership Acceptance Message
Group Membership Declined Message
This message is displayed along with the application form when a user clicks the link to join your campus group.
This message is displayed after a user has finished filling out and submitting the application to join the campus group. It confirms that the application is being reviewed.
This message is displayed in the email message that is sent or the Message Center Portlet when you invite users to join your campus group.
The Edit Membership Settings screen lets the campus group manager set the properties of his campus group:

The campus group manager can set the following properties for the group:
Select one of the following:
Open to new members
Open to new members by application
Closed to new members
Open to new members by invitation
Once the maximum number of members is reached, the campus group will automatically become "Closed" to new members. If you do not enter a number in this field, any number of members can join this campus group.
Choose one:
This campus group is public and will appear in the campus groups directory.
This campus group is private and will not appear in the campus groups directory.
The Campus Group Manager Portlet main screen contains a Current Members table:

The Current Members table contains the following information about the members of the campus group:
Name
Role (select Leader or Member; click the drop member hyperlink to remove this member from a campus group)
Date Joined
After changing current member information, click the Save Changes button.
The campus group manager can send invitations to one or more users in the campus community to join his or her campus group. Invited users are "Pre-Approved" to join the campus group and do not have to submit an application to join.
NOTE: It may take up to 30 minutes for the selected users to see the invitation and be able to join the group.
Click on the Send an Invitation button on the Campus Group Manager Portlet to display the Basic view invitation set up screen. The Basic view displays the current members of the campus group and is not used to invite new members. To invite users outside of the group, the campus group leader needs to click on Advanced in the principle view selector area circled below:

The Principal Selector Control provides the following views:
The default invitation screen displays a Basic view with a default selection filter of Select By: Users:

In this view, the campus group leader sees the current members of the campus group.
The campus group leader should use this view to see all the current members and their roles in his campus group.
To invite people outside of this campus group, the leader needs to use the Advanced or Selected Views.
Click on View: Advanced from any of the Campus Group Manager Portlet invitation screens to display the Advanced View:

In this view the campus group leader can click on a sidebar hyperlink to:
Click on the Global Users and Roles Hyperlink to invite users, students, undergraduates, Admins, Faculty, or people in other roles in the system:

select members of other campus groups
Click on a Campus Group hyperlink in the sidebar to invite members of other campus groups:

select members from a personal list
The campus group leader can use the Search and Role filter features to further constrain the list of people to invite.
In the Advanced View, the campus group leader can select multiple people to invite:

He can then click on View: Selected to display only those selections:

From the Selected view the campus group leader can prune his invitation list by clicking on the Remove Selected button to remove selected users from the invitation list.
He can then make his final selections and click on the Invite Selected users to Join Campus Group button.
From all invitation set up views, campus group leaders can:
filter people to invite by User or Role
Click on a Select By: hyperlink to change the view filter to invite people by name or role.
Click on Select By: Users to display User names and Roles:

Click on Select By: Roles to display roles only:

search for people by name using wildcards (e.g., "Ab*"), if the selection list spans several pages
If the number of invitee selections is more than a screenful, use the Search Names filter to enter a name (or a portion of a name with the wildcards) and click Go to search for users.
For example, enter Ab* to invite people whose last names begin with Ab:

As you change view filters and view groups, the search filter remains in effect. Click the Show All hyperlink to remove the search filter.

To further shorten the display of selections, you can filter them by Role.

In the example above, you can select the Students - Undergraduate role from the Role(s) drop-down to limit the invitation list to undergraduates. As soon as a role is selected, the screen redraws with the new invitation list:

The Campus Group Manager portlet invitation screen also displays an Invitation to Join Campus Group Outgoing Message that can be edited from the Edit Outgoing Messages menu item on the portlet's Manage menu.
After selecting the users to invite to this campus group, the group leader must click on the Invite Selected Users to Join Campus Group button at the bottom of the screen.
Click the Exit Group Manager button to return to the Campus Group home page.
Currently no preferences, settings, or permission operations are available for the Campus Group Manager portlet.
